PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
 
Don't forget that if you are a newly licensed salesperson, you are required by the Delaware Real Estate Commission to take the four New Licensee CE Modules within one year of receiving your license.  Attending our New Member Orientation means that you've completed New Licensee Module 1.  We are now offering the other modules in the live, virtual format. PRE-LICENSING COURSE

Do you know someone who is interested in becoming a REALTOR?  Please let them know we are offering the pre-licensing course again in May in the live, virtual format. UPCOMING LOCKBOX AUDIT

This is just a friendly reminder that the lockbox audit occurs in June.  Now is a good time to turn in your broken/damaged lockboxes with a ticket from Sentrilock.  More instructions about the audit will be sent near the end of May.  If you have any questions, please email kristy@scaor.com.
 
 
OFFICE ROSTERS

We conduct roster updates every June with many reminders ahead of the update. There are still outstanding brokerage rosters from last June. We conduct these updates to improve services and accuracy of our memberships and benefits.  Additionally, it is mandatory that we update our rosters yearly according to our by-laws. Thank you to those who sent them in.  If you are not sure whether we have it, you can reach out to kristy@scaor.com. We will be asking for these rosters again soon, so be proactive and submit any membership changes you know of by using our REALTOR Change FormAccording to our by-laws, you are required to notify us of any status changes or transferral of brokerages within 30 days.

TAX SEASON

This is friendly tax season reminder of what's deductible and what's not.
 

2021 DUES DEDUCTIBILITY STATEMENT
Compliance with the Tax Reform Act of 1993, as amended by the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017, requires that the portion of dues attributable to lobbying and political activities at the Local, State and Federal levels of government be considered nondeductible for income tax purposes.  This nondeductible portion must be disclosed to members on their dues invoice each year.

NAR DUES DEDUCTIBILITY 2020 For 2020with dues at $150 per member, NAR computes 38 percent or $57 to be nondeductible for the member's income tax purposes due to NAR lobbying efforts. Please note that the entire $35 Consumer Advertising Campaign special assessment qualifies as fully deductibleIn addition, contributions (including member dues) to NAR are  not tax deductible as charitable contributions. However, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.

DAR DUES DEDUCTIBILITY 2020 For 2020, with dues at $190 per member, the Delaware Association of Realtors computes 17.8 percent or $33.82 to be nondeductible for the member's income tax purposes due to DAR lobbying efforts. In addition, contributions (including member dues) to DAR are not tax deductible as charitable contributions. However, they may be tax deductible under other provisions of the Internal Revenue Code.

RPAC Contributions
Contributions are not deductible for income tax purposes. Contributions to RPAC are voluntary and are used for political purposes. You may refuse to contribute without reprisal and the National Association of REALTORS® or any of its state associations or local boards will not favor or disfavor any member because of the amount contributed. 70% of each contribution is used by your state PAC to support state and local political candidates. Until your state PAC reaches its RPAC goal 30% is sent to National RPAC to support federal candidates and is charged against your limits under 2 U.S.C. 441a; after the state PAC reaches its RPAC goal it may elect to retain your entire contribution for use in supporting state and local candidates.
